With increasing use of technology, smartphones, which it says are an essential tool moving forward in an AI and digitally-dominated world, make a number of people addicted, not only for adults, but also for students. Considering about the serious addictive qualities of social media, some schools has set up new policy, called "Refuse to smartphones", to pull teenagers away from their screens and into real world.
The design has been brought into focus. Some people think it is a significant initiative to liberate teenagers from mobile phones, while others believe that it is not wise to block the relationship between students and the internet forcibly.
As a coin has its two sides, the argument of whether schools should ban smartphones has both advantages and disadvantages. But, for my part, I support design made by schools to limit students using smartphones. Admittedly, smartphones may sometimes help students access the interactive content for the subject and solve questions conveniently, however, they bring students more harm than benefit in general.
Firstly, lacking of proper guidance, students will turn their attention from learning to smartphones which lure them into playing mobile games. Figures show that many students lose their grades or even drop out of school because they obsessed with mobile games, wasting time, spending too much money and leading family conflicts.
Secondly, speaking of smartphones, most of people may think its role is just as a means of chatting. Although it can make the distance of communication shorter, it is virtual after all. Students who are too young too distinguish are more likely to choose virtual chat than face-to-face communications, beautifying the person through imagination, confusing facts with false information like a piece of embellished photo.
Last but not least, it is harmful for health to stare at screens for a long time. The majority of liquid crystal currently on the market use LED. It is the main source of a sort of harmful light -- "blue laser". When shone on retina, it will produce a hazardous substance, killing cells and causing damage, especially for teenagers, which can not be cured.
Now, from what has been discussed above, we can draw the conclusion that the disadvantages of smartphones outweigh the advantages. Therefore, it is necessary to for schools to restrict students\' use of mobile phones. Also for students, using mobile phones correctly is essential. They should cultivate self-control so that smartphones can make the most of its positive effects.
